In less than a year since opening, Forgan’s of Broughty Ferry has quickly become a firm favourite for locals and visitors alike, and now the team behind the highly successful venue are launching a second neighbouring site- mirroring what they’ve already done in the seaside town of St Andrews. Mitchell’s will occupy the cosy street-side unit one door up from Forgan’s atmospheric vennel entrance, and will be a welcome addition for those who have been loving the vibe at stylish family favourite Forgan’s.
Owing to the smaller internal space and the management team’s strong focus on a personable experience, this new Mitchell’s will offer a reduced “small but perfectly formed” offer, with the emphasis on great artisanal coffee, cakes and sweet treats bought direct from local bakers, and a range of fresh and seasonal salads and sandwiches. For those looking for a more relaxed environment for an afternoon tipple or a warming nightcap, they will also stock a fantastic selection of carefully selected wines, craft beers and cocktails. Like its namesake in St Andrews, Mitchell’s will offer its lovely seasonal produce in the form of bespoke hampers- perfect presents for lovers of cheese, wine and all things fine.
The Mitchell’s team are also looking to bring a whole new programme of entertainment befitting the intimate venue- there will be live acoustic music every weekend, with a relaxed jazz night every other. There will also be a regular quiz and Bookclub, ideal for getting the gang together.
The intimate venue will be a perfect complimentary alternative to its sister restaurant next door- it’s a tried and tested method says Operations Manager Aylin Sulo-
“The lovely thing about bringing Mitchell’s to Broughty Ferry is that we’ve done it sort of back to front. When we launched in St Andrews, this little brand was first, and it was only when it was received so well that we followed up with Forgan’s.
With Forgan’s being such a huge success for us here, not only commercially but also on a community level which we did not expect, we can’t wait to expand our offer in the town with Mitchell’s, and we hope everyone loves it as much as we do. We’ve had the site for a while, but we were set on not rushing into anything and ensuring we delivered one great experience before looking to another.”
Mitchell’s opens at 234 Brook Street early July, and you can keep up to date with all the latest opening news and updates by liking them on Facebook or signing up at mitchellsbroughtyferry.co.uk
